The new season of The Voice begins and it will be the first season without Adam Levine. Blake Shelton is now the last remaining original coach on the show. Before leaving, he was very close to Levine.
So it's not surprising that Shelton has a message for Levine going into this season. Find out what he said and more.
Adam Levine had a message for Blake Shelton in his announcement.
Levine has posted on Instagram a message about the end of his time on the show. He added a message for his good friend.
It read: "And, BLAKE F * CKIN 'SHELTON. I could not hide my love for you if I tried. Serious. I tried. I can not. Our friendship is and remains one for the books. Whatever this surreal experience, I'm just glad I was able to experience it with you. You are my brother for life. Kelly [Clarkson] and John [Legend] take care of the cowboy, and I'm sure I'll be back soon to say hello.
This news was shocking for many fans. However, Shelton revealed why he was not completely surprised by Levine's decision.
Shelton said many knew Levine wanted a change
The coach tweeted his reaction shortly after announcing that Levine will leave and Gwen Stefani will replace him. It seemed he was surprised.
He tweeted, "I'm having a hard time dealing with @adamlevine, which is not on @NBCTheVoice anymore. After 16 seasons that changed our lives [sic]. I only found out about it yesterday and it has not occurred to me yet. I'll miss working with this idiot.
Shelton later revealed that it was not that surprising, the announcement made sense to Levine.
"I think we all knew throughout the show that he was ready to take a step," he said Shelton told Entertainment Tonight, "For a man like Adam, who is simply – he's the most addictive person I've ever met – even having done it while he did it without going to the next step He continued, "But I know that he is satisfied with his decision, that does not mean that I am or one of us [are happy]but at least they could mitigate the blow a bit and Gwen [Stefani]
He has a message to Levine
Shelton loves to give Levine a hard time even after the singer decides to end the show, and the country singer gave him an interesting message.  "Adam is not i I want the show and I want him to know he can still kiss me wherever he is, "he told Entertainment Tonight. He revealed how he felt when it became known that Levine had stopped.
"Literally, you know, since Adam is gone, I will not lie, it was scary, it's weird," he said. "Without him, it's shocking not to have him here in the truest sense of the word."
Fans will have to wait and see what it will be like to have Stefani, Shelton, Clarkson and Legend as coaches. Season 17 of The Voice will premiere on Monday, September 23, at 8/7 CDT on NBC.
