While Crypto operates on Facebook, Crypto runs social media.
Block.one – the multi-billion dollar team that built the EOSIO platform – is the latest blockchain social media company. On Saturday it was announced that the new platform is called Voice.
The company says its new social network will be characterized by the fact that users are not turned into products.
In a press release, CEO Brendan Blumer said:
"Our content. Our dates. Our attention These are all incredibly valuable things. But right now it's the platform, not the user getting the reward. They are purposefully auctioning off our information to advertisers, earning a profit and flooding our feeds with hidden intentions dictated by the highest bidder. Voice changes that. "
Voice runs in the EOS Blockchain, which is also upgraded to a faster version 2.0. With the public chain, everything that is posted on EOS will be public. Meanwhile, Facebook, the world's leading social network, announced earlier this year that it would move in the opposite direction. CEO Mark Zuckerberg outlined a "privacy-oriented vision for social networks".
Previous media-oriented crypto projects were largely similar to Tumblr or Medium, occasionally including Twitter imitations. A spokesperson for the Block.one project did not respond to CoinDesk's inquiry as to what kind of experience could be expected on the new site.
Although the argument for attracting contributions is convincing, the model had difficulty getting its way
For example, in 201
Steemit is now the media-like social network built on Steem's Blockchain. According to Dapp.com, it was the only major Dapp blockchain in which social media was the dominant use case. 93 percent of users touched his social dapps (of which Steemit dominated). A recent May estimate put the number of active users this month at 75,644.
Since then, other cryptographic social networks have been added, such as Coil (which uses XRP) and Cent (which uses ETH).
Dapp.com estimates Steem had over 386,000 active users a year, while EOS 2018 had just over 171,000 active users, with 67 percent using its betting products.
It should be noted that EOS only had six months to build a base user. After a one-year ICO that generated more than $ 4 billion for Block.one, EOS was officially launched on June 15, 2018.
