Bronx man arrested at the airport on his way to the Taliban, officials say



A Bronx man accused by US officials of joining the Taliban in Afghanistan and killing Americans was arrested Friday at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York.

9659002] Hossain reportedly attempted to travel to Pakistan to join the Taliban when he was arrested on Friday morning following a security clearance. He appeared in court on Friday and was held without bail, NBC told New York.

"Hossain purportedly wanted to kill Americans and wanted to target in particular members of our armed forces serving our nation abroad," US attorney for Southern District of New York said, Geoffrey S. Berman said in a statement.

Hossain faces imprisonment of up to 15 years.
