Brown's fire coach Hue Jackson after two-plus seasons

The Cleveland Browns have dismissed coach Hue Jackson after only three wins in two or more seasons, a source told ESPNs Adam Schefter on Monday.

Offensive coordinator Todd Haley was also fired as Chris Mortensen was confirmed by ESPN reported by NFL Network.

Brown's defensive coordinator Gregg Williams will be the temporary coach, sources ESPN said. He is in his second year with Cleveland.

The Browns are 2-5-1 this season, doubling the total of Jackson's first two seasons with the team. Cleveland was 1-15 in his first season and 0-16 last season. The Browns hired John Dorsey as General Manager late last season and Dorsey retained Jackson as manager despite the team's winless season.

There were rumors that the relationship between Jackson and Haley is worsening to the point had, on which a movement would have to be made. Haley was in his first season with the Browns after serving as the Steelers' offensive coordinator from 2012 to 2017.

The changes were also made with the development of Quarterback Baker Mayfield, the team's first draft pick, in mind, sources Mortensen reported. After news of the Browns' changes came up, Mayfield's college coach, Oklahoma's Lincoln Riley, was asked if he was interested in coaching in the NFL.

"I knew it would come," Riley said during his weekly press conference. You sit here and answer these questions and I always want to be honest. The truth is for me, I love Oklahoma. I love to coach here. I love college football. I do not have this itch I do not know that I'll ever do it.

"But I will never be a guy who gets up here and says no, no, as it never happens with these things, I do not know, but now I know that the NFL is less important to me."
