The annual pre-E3 announcement of this year's Call of Duty game has arrived, and it has been found that the Scuttlebutt, detailing what to expect, was not too far from the target. Leaks and rumors indicate that the CoD title of 2019 was a new entry in Infinity Ward's Modern Warfare sub-series and proved to be (largely) correct. Activision revealed its entry in 2019 as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare with a trailer that gives an insight into the game. The release date is set for October 25 for PS4, Xbox One and PC. On the multiplayer page, there are some significant and welcome changes that should make it much more inviting to players, along with what Infinity Ward considers a more realistic style of single player campaign.
In particular, this is not Modern Warfare 4, which would have been the next numbered entry in the series. The subtitle of the game is simply "Modern Warfare" and serves as a reboot of a kind of "Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare" from 2007. It's definitely not a remake. Developer Infinity Ward ̵
As already confirmed, this year's Call of Duty will feature a single player campaign. It seems that the story is about Russian interactions with the Middle East, while the enemies will include an ultranationalist group helping to carry out terrorist attacks in major cities like London.
Modern Warfare will of course feature a multiplayer mode, but Infinity Ward has not revealed much more details about this part of the game yet. However, it has been noted that your rise in the campaign will be transferred to multiplayer, which means you are always working to unlock new Killstreaks, Benefits, and Weapons.
It is exciting that the game offers cross-play for PS4. Xbox One and PC allow players on all platforms to participate in games together. Another important change for multiplayer fans is that Activision will not sell the standard season pass, which will lock new multiplayer cards after launch. Instead, all players have free new maps and events. The company has not confirmed what could take its place, and we also do not know if blackout multiplayer Black Ops 4 will be available again.
One thing that does not change is the timed PS4 exclusivity of the game. Like the latest CoD entries, DLC is first released on PS4. As with Black Ops 4, this window is only seven days old. In addition, we do not know exactly how Activision handles the rollout of this content or whether it impacts cross-play in that exclusivity period.

The original game, released in 2007 for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC, was one of the most influential games of the 21st century. It was remastered later in 2016, though this is completely independent of this upcoming reboot.

Further details may be announced during an E3 Coliseum panel on June 11, and the game could possibly surface during an E3 press conference. Given the aforementioned PS4 exclusivity, it's unlikely to appear on the Xbox, and Sony does not have its own press conference.
