Music fans have been waiting for the first full-length album of Chance The Rapper Decade, fueled by a multitude of mixtapes, features and almost relentless, kit-cat-adjacent positivity. Finally, The Big Day is actually here and releases streaming services just a bit later than originally expected. As noted by Vulture Chance has defied expectations by refusing, at midnight, the "Owbum" – as he has extensively mentioned on social media before finally announcing his official name instead of keeping it in Chicago by noon today.
At Big Day Chance recruits a number of random friends from across the music industry. Top performers include Nicki Minaj, Justin Vernon, John Legend, DaBaby, Timbaland, Smino, Gucci Mane, Taylor Bennett, Francis and the Lights, Megan Thee Stallion, Shawn Mendes and Death Cab For Cutie starring Ben Gibbard's signature vocals. " Do You Remember ", that chance debuted last night at a concert in Chicago.
As usual, Chance released the album on his own and worked independently of a label. And although the pressure obviously exists to see if he can fulfill years of promises and ambitions, he has described it as an expression of joy: "The whole album is inspired by the day I got married and how I danced that day, "he told an interviewer as he discussed the album a few months ago.
