Charlize Theron turned her body mainly for her Oscar-winning performance in the film Monster and now she's doing it again for her final role in Tully – with a lot of help from the snack aisle.
The Wednesday episode of The Ellen Show opened the actress as she won 50 pounds. for the movie in which she plays an exhausted mother of three, who befriends her new nanny. "I ate a lot, but my drug of choice is potato chips," she said. "I ate them everywhere, I had a bag in my car, a bag in the bathroom, a bag in the kitchen, a bag on the counter, a bag in my caravan, wherever I went, there was only one bag."
But this time she realized that it was harder to fight back. "I was younger [during Monster ] I was like 27," Theron said, now 42. "I just did not drink for a week and I was in shape again, it was crazy, that's not happening anymore! "
Theron also revealed how her diet influenced her mental health for the role. "The hardest part for me was that I was not prepared for how that amount of processed food will affect your mood," she said. "I've had depression for the first time."
"What she eats about 'what you eat is who you are' is so true because I ate like a person who just did not move and I felt that way," she continued , "I was lethargic and tired all the time, and that was hard to break because it is more spiritual than it is almost physical."

As an actress, however, she emphasized the importance of transformation for her to come into character. "Mothers do this every day – they get pregnant and they get all the weight, and it takes them a year and a half to lose it, and if they do not, they're sentenced," Mother said to Jackson, 6, and 2. August, both who welcomed her by accepting in 2012 and 2015. "And I feel like I have to do that for the movie."
Tully will appear in theaters on May 4th.
