"While videos do not capture an encounter, detectives take this development seriously and want to interview people as more and more cameras are screened," Guglielmi wrote.
The pictures appear to show two people dressed in dark clothes walking along a sidewalk next to a building.
Investigators told Fox News that Smollett was walking around 2:00 am Tuesday near the Chicago River and said two men were approaching him, shouting, "This is one MAGA-country. " The actor told the police that the men had hit his face with his hands and doused an unknown chemical before wrapping a rope around his neck.
According to the authorities, Smollett brought herself to Northwestern Memorial Hospital for treatment.
