Charlotte's polling stations receive additional police attention after an armed man threatens a black GOP campaigner in the Steele Creek area.
"The department performs zone checks scheduled at all polling stations by November 6," according to a statement issued at 4 pm on Thursday.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police identified the suspect in the Wednesday incident as Jason Donald Wayne, 28, of Charlotte.
He is accused of going into terror by people who report threats, disorderly behavior and ethnic intimidation, according to records of the Mecklenburg County Prison
It is the fourth time that Wayne has been in Mecklenburg County for the past two years was arrested, including twice for probation, prison records. According to records, he was found guilty of injuring himself with a deadly weapon that caused serious injury.
