There are no more games. Well, the hopes of the College Football Playoff are waiting.
Alabama and Clemson won their conference championship and ended undefeated. Notre Dame remained unbeaten with four wins over ranked teams. While nothing is guaranteed now, one can say with certainty that these teams should be in the field on Sunday.
This leaves one job and three strong applicants.

Georgia, Oklahoma, Ohio State … all have solid cases. Before the selection show on Sunday, which you can see at ESPN at noon on Sunday, we take a look at the current CFP ranking list:
No. 4 Georgia
The Bulldogs had a nightmarish déjà vu in the SEC Championship. They led Alabama at half-time and then watched the backup quarterback clear and confetti fall on the Crimson Tide. But how much should losing to the nation's number 1 in Georgia affect the ranking of Georgia?

The end result did not fail, Georgia set the second highest points, the Alabama all year round and made Tua Tagovailoa a pedestrian who held him for 164 yards on 10 of 25 and forced two interceptions – a feat no other team has made this season. Yes, Tagovailoa had left the game because of injury, but he undoubtedly had the worst game of the year when he was in the field.
With the loss Georgia fell 11: 2 and went against teams with a 3-2 result. However, these two defeats came against two of the current top-10 teams, and both came away from home. These statistics from college match day Chris Fallica add weight to the record:
Alabama and Georgia are the only two teams to win two home games against current CFP Top 15 teams.

The simple fact is that no team ever scored the College Football Playoff with two losses. If a team breaks this series, the Bulldogs are a good candidate, but that's hard to beat, especially with two one-in-one conference championships following them.
No. 5 Oklahoma
In the Big 12 championship game, Oklahoma only takes revenge on Texas 39-27 with a loss of the season. With this victory, the Sooners now beat each team according to their schedule, with the only loss being three points in a neutral game.
One of the main arguments against Oklahoma is that there are not as many signatures as in Georgia or in the state of Ohio. The Sooners defeated teams 2-1 this year, lost to Texas in October and beat West Virginia and Texas to end the season. But again, Oklahoma beat each team according to its schedule. Is it her fault that her opponents were not better?
Another blow to Oklahoma this year was the defense of the team. Before the Big 12 championship game, the Sooners allowed an average of 32.8 points per game – the 31st highest in all FBS. In their two ranked matches they had given 48 points and 56 points. They had each scored 45 and 59 points in these two games. Not a nice look.
But against Texas showed the Sooners defense. Oklahoma locked out the Longhorns in the fourth quarter, holding them at only 27 total points, four points below the Texas seasonal average. If this defense can crop up alongside one of the biggest crimes in college football, Oklahoma is a tough matchup for everyone. But that's a big if.
No. 6 Ohio State
Let's get started with this scratchy flaw: the 49-20 defeat for Purdue. Ohio State is the only one of those three teams to lose to an unrated opponent. But this loss is not nearly as bad as it seems on paper. The Buckeyes played their worst offensive game of the season and dropped out against a team that went 3-0 against opponents this year.
HIGHLIGHTS: Ohio State withdraws from Northwestern and wins Big Ten title in 2018
In addition, a loss to an unrated team in the eyes of the CFP Commission is not a major problem historically. Nine of the 16 previous CFP teams lost to an unrated opponent. Two of them (Ohio State in 2014 and Clemson in 2017) even won the national championship.
And Ohio State has done everything in its power to make up for this loss ever since. The Buckeyes are currently one of the hottest teams in the country. Let's summarize the last four games:
- A 26-6 defeat to the US state of Michigan No. 24
- He scored 21 points in the fourth quarter to force overtime on the road against Maryland and then won 52 -51
- ] An unreal second half against No. 4 in Michigan to win 62-39
- A 45-24 defeat of No. 21 Northwestern to win the Big-12 Championship
The win over Northwestern earned five wins against ranked teams for Ohio State this year – more than Alabama, Clemson, Notre Dame, Georgia or Oklahoma. Hard to dismiss.
