BERLIN – The Cologne police on Monday blocked parts of West Germany's main station, after a man had brought a woman to a pharmacy.
Police officer Christoph Schulte told the Associated Press that the incident began on Monday at 12:45 pm He said parts of the station, one of the country's largest, as well as the Breslauer Platz behind the station had been closed.
"We have evidence that a man is holding a wife, but we have not been able to get really close," Schulte said.
Deutsche Bahn tweeted that some of the station's railroad tracks were temporarily closed, and trains were canceled or delayed.
Police on Twitter told people to avoid the train station. Local media reported that people were told via a speaker to leave the station. Behind the station were ambulances and heavily armed police, reported the Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger.
