Colorado family upset about "OK" symbol of Universal character, Universal apologizes

(KKTV) – A family from Colorado started a double shot when they looked at pictures and videos from a holiday in Universal Orlando in the picture.

In one of her videos, her daughter posed with the character "Gru" from "Despicable Me". While the figure is posing with a young black girl for the photo, you can see the person in the suit making the "OK" symbol and pushing it onto the girl's shoulder. This took place in one of the resort's hotels. The incident occurred in March. This was unusual for the family and was not a harmless gesture to them.

Recently, the Anti-Defamation League announced that in some contexts, the symbol is the gesture of a hate symbol. The young girl's family believes this could have been the person's intention in costume.

1 Last Thursday, the news turned to Universal for comments. Tom Schroder of NBC Universal Orlando responded with these words: "We do not want our guests to know what this family has done, this is unacceptable and we're sorry, we take steps to make sure nothing like that happens again . We can." I can not discuss details of this incident, but we can confirm that the actor is no longer working here. We stay in touch with the family and will work privately with them to resolve this issue.

Tiffany and Richard Zinger asked 11 messages not to share the identity of their daughter, who according to their lawyer are veterans who spent their time in Iraq.11 News has scheduled an interview with their parents for Thursday morning as we hope to expand our coverage of this story.

Universal will not comment on whether the gesture of the person in the costume could have any other meaning.
