The Detroit Youth Choir got a big surprise on Friday when he returned home.
The Detroit Youth Choir was honored on Friday afternoon on Campus Martius, after racing unbelievably "America's Got Talent" and finishing second with just under a million dollars.
The celebration was hosted by the city of Detroit and the Downtown Detroit Partnership and WDIV-Local 4.

The fund, which will be established at the Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan, will provide long-term support to the Detroit Youth Choir. As the Foundation's assets grow, it will enable the Organization to serve the youth, to further their purpose and to facilitate positive youth development, including vocal performance training, mentoring, and building life and social skills.

"We are incredibly proud of what the Detroit Youth Choir achieved during his time at America's Got Talent, and we look forward to seeing what's next for them," said Tonya Allen, President and CEO of the Skillman Foundation. "With this fund, Detroiters can celebrate and promote the genius of our children."
The choir is part of the non-profit Detroit Youth Concert Choir & Performing Arts Company, which helps young people aged 8 to 18 discover and perform music, theater and dance.
"The Detroit Youth Choir brought our entire region together to support the children of Detroit," said Wendy Lewis Jackson, Kresge Foundation, executive director of the Detroit program. "They have represented the city with class and soul, and their success will continue to inspire the children of Detroit in the years to come, and we hope they feel a deep sense of pride in doing so."
