WASHINGTON (Reuters) – US Parliament Speaker Nancy Pelosi has substantiated her poor comparison of President Donald Trump with Republican compatriot Richard Nixon on Sunday, stating that the shameful president has at least had enough the country taken care of before resigning his office.
The top Democrats in Congress told reporters last week that Trump's pressure on Ukraine to investigate one of its potential opponents in the 2020 election "makes what Nixon did seem almost small."
She starred in Nixon's resignation after the Watergate scandal of breaking into Democratic Party headquarters and subsequent cover-up in a CBS interview aired on Sunday.
"I mean, what the President did was so much worse than what Richard Nixon did, that Richard Nixon had taken enough care of the country at some point to realize that this could not continue," said Pelosi on CBS – "Face the Nation."
