Confirmed case of mumps in the local school



The Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention investigates a confirmed case of mumps at York High School. The child got ill on the 9th of March. Anyone who attended York High School March 6-8, or Massabesic High School unified basketball game on March 7, may have been exposed. Officials said the child was unvaccinated and got mumps during the trip. "Mumps can be prevented by vaccinations. Individuals should review their medical records and make sure that they are up-to-date with all vaccines, including the MMR vaccine that protects against mumps, "said Drs.
