Congratulations, Princess Diana: Meghan Markle is dressed ten times as much as her deceased mother-in-law

It can not be denied: Meghan Markle is the princess of the modern race, as is her deceased mother-in-law. From her prerogative philanthropic work to her warmhearted, associative personality, Markle seems to have more to do with Diana than we ever thought possible. But the biggest similarity between Prince Harry's deceased mother and his wife? Your sense of style. Here, the tenfold Duchess of Sussex was inspired directly by the ultimate fashion icon Princess Diana.

SUNSHINE YELLOW DRESSES

The Duchess, who received this beautiful in July last year, receiving the Youth Challenge wearing a yellow Brandon Maxwell scabbard, opted for a color approved by Diana for one of her first royal events without Queen Elizabeth.

RED & PURPLE

It's pretty clear these two have something for color. This particular combination of violet and red has, of course, historically symbolized the royal house. Markle's iteration was also a clear allusion to Diana, who wore the bold colors more than once.

Get the Look: Isabel Marant Dress ($ 695); Lafayette 148 Coat ($ 848)

WIDE LEG PANTS

Satin details, a wide collar, a matching clutch and matching heels: Markle may not have recreated this look in the same shade of blue, but the similarities between her Mother-in-law's formal outfit and her own version are striking.

Get the Look: Altuzarra Blazer ($ 1,695) and Pants ($ 795); Theory Blazer ($ 435) and Pants ($ 295); Aquazzura Pumps (750 USD)

GREEN MATERNITY COATS

Two months before the birth of Baby Archie, Markle wore a green Erdem coat and matching dress for a Commonwealth Day event at the Canada House in London. Diana's maternity style of Bellville Sassoon was born, while the Princess of Wales was six months pregnant with Prince William. Both had matching embroidery on the sleeves and collar, although Markle wore black pearls, while Diana wore velvet ornaments.

BLACK HATS WITH A BORDER

Accessories are a princess's best friend, especially when they are a perfect fit for an outfit. For the solemn Anzac Day service, which honors the victims of World War I in Australia and New Zealand, Markle wore a black dress and a gray coat with a black floppy topper. Diana was wearing a similar hat by Philip Somerville during a visit to Munich.

Get the Look: Halogen Hat ($ 24); Eric Javits has ($ 198); Gucci Hat (US $ 980)

GLEN PLAID

Markle is no stranger to British plaids (she wore a blue-green tartan in Scotland), which is why this allusion to Britain was so apt for her and Prince Harry's visit in Cardiff, Wales. Diana also rocked the woven twill design at Paddington Station in London. (Ohhh, and Hello Diana's Fendi Logo Clutch.)

See: Everlane Blazer ($ 175); Adeam Pants ($ 785); From Any Other Name Dress ($ 1,195)

FORM-FITTING WHITE GOWNS

Both royal ladies know the value of an elegant white dress to turn their heads. While Diana wore her beaded Catherine Walker sheath in Budapest in 1990, the duchess rocked her satin dress by Stella McCartney last May for her royal wedding reception. (Actually you can buy her exact dress here!) The addition of white shoes by both royals lends itself to an amazingly clear silhouette.

Get the Look: Theia Dress ($ 995); ASOS dress (133 USD); Nine West Pumps ($ 80)

SEQUIN DRESSES

Bend to the queens of the sequins. As an obvious sign of her deceased mother-in-law, Markle put on a dark blue sequin for Roland Mouret at a performance by Cirque du Soleil. Diana, on the other hand, wore her sparkling make-up, another of Catherine Walker's dresses, to the Diamond Ball in 1990.
