Costco membership becomes digital.
According to an Instagram post on Thursday, the wholesaler released its digital membership card this week.
Now members no longer need to search their wallets to find their physical card at the door or checkout. Instead, they only need a smartphone and the Costco app.
"The digital membership card is now available in the Costco app," says the Instagram post. "Create a Costco.com account to access your card."
Setting up the digital membership card takes six steps, according to the merchant website, starting with the Costco app download. The process also requires online member verification.
The Digital Membership Card can only be used in stores in the US and Canada.
According to a comment in the Instagram post she is currently not accepted at Costco gas stations.
