Brave's Hall of Famer manager Bobby Cox was taken to a hospital in Atlanta on Tuesday night after suffering a potential stroke. WSB-TV first reported that Cox was ill and was hospitalized for a possible stroke. This report was later confirmed by Mark Bowman of MLB.com.
Cox's family and the Braves published statements on Wednesday afternoon.
Statement by the Cox Family:
"We would like to thank everyone who has sent their good wishes or spoken a prayer. We know the power of Braves Country and hope that these prayers and positive thoughts continue while Bobby heals. You do not know how much your support for Bobby and our family means.
Statement by the Atlanta Braves:
"We do not know anyone stronger or more determined than Bobby Cox. Our thoughts and prayers are with him when he recovers. We look forward to seeing you again soon and would like to thank the baseball community for joining forces to support our dear friend. "
