CPCSP to Conduct Mental Health Awareness Walk | Community News

The Cumberland Perry Community Support Program (CPCSP) will host its "Mental Health Awareness Walk" and Rally 2018 on May 1, at 10:00 am at Letort Park, 260 E. Pomfret St., Carlisle. to awaken the national mental health awareness month. The annual event provides an opportunity for the community to unite to promote mental health awareness. This year's theme, "Stop … Pain Ends," encourages those who have a mental illness to never give up.

Mental illness can affect anyone at any time and for any reason. The CPCSP encourages the community to promote recovery and change the stigma that is often associated with a mental illness. Recovery can and does happen. With education and conversation, the community can become healthier and stronger.

The hike ends at 1

1am in front of the Historic Courthouse in downtown Carlisle, at which time the rally will take place. After the rally participants will be invited to Letort Park for lunch.

The CPCSP is a program of the Cumberland Perry Bureau of Mental Health / Developmental Disorders (MH / IDD). MH / IDD works to empower and support members of the community and their families with intellectual or mental disabilities. The MH / IDD Office is an alliance of three organizations providing mental health, intellectual and developmental disability support and early intervention.
To join the walk and lunch, please contact the CPCSP office no later than Friday 6. Only those who pre-register receive a walking T-shirt and can attend lunch.
