As with previous CD Project Red games, there are countless ways to customize your character in Cyberpunk 2077 to your liking. This level of personalization even extends to the various weapon types of the game, which are available in three different variants.
When it comes to weapon customization, there are two important ways. First, you can change the look of your weapon by applying different skins or paint jobs. In contrast, you can best customize your weapon by using attachments and modifications such as mufflers and riflescopes. You can also specifically improve the specific individual statistics of a weapon.
Apart from customization, it is worth noting that your knowledge of certain weapons is increasing and your reloading and shooting animations are changing. For example, your crosshairs may become smaller, indicating that their accuracy is improving or that animation loading is being accelerated. According to senior designer Miles Tost, this has been implemented to better support your character's growth.
"You really get that sense of progress and your character evolves as you play the game," Tost said. "I think that's a special experience when you combine it with the way you customize your weapon, in which you feel that this is your signature weapon and that you can really use it. "
