A daily dose of baking soda could help reduce the destructive inflammation of autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, a study that was first found.
Researchers from Augusta University in the US showed that the cheap, exaggerated Counter Antacidum may encourage our spleen to promote an anti-inflammatory environment that could be therapeutic for inflammatory diseases.
The study, published in the Journal of Immunology, showed that when rats or healthy people drink a solution of baking soda or sodium bicarbonate, it becomes a trigger for the stomach to make more acid at the next meal and for less digest ̵
Mesothelial cells produce body cavities, such as those in our digestive tract, and they also cover the exterior of our organs to literally prevent them from rubbing against each other.
About a decade ago, it was discovered that these cells also provide a different level of protection. They have called little fingers, microvilli, that sense the environment and warn the organs that there is an intruder and an immune response is needed.
Drinking powder says the spleen – which is part of the immune system – something like a large blood filter and where some white blood cells, such as macrophages, are stored – to facilitate the immune response, researchers said.
"Surely bicarbonate drinks the spleen and we think it comes through the mesothelial cells." said Paul O'Connor, Renal Physiologist at Augusta University
After drinking water with baking soda for two weeks, the population of immune cells called macrophages in the spleen, as well as the blood and kidneys, shifted all of those who promoted inflammation, called M1, to those who reduce it, called M2.

Laboratory animals have had problems with hypertension and chronic kidney disease, where researchers thought about baking soda.
One of the many functions of the kidneys is the balancing of important compounds such as acid, potassium and sodium. Kidney function is impaired in kidney disease, and one of the resulting problems may be that the blood becomes too acidic, said O & Connor.
Significant consequences may include an increased risk of cardiovascular disease and osteoporosis.
Clinical studies have shown that a daily dose of baking soda can not only reduce acidity, but slows the progression of kidney disease, and it is now a therapy for patients.

When they looked at a rat model without actual kidney damage, they saw the same reaction. Volunteers who drank soda in a bottle of water also had a similar answer.
"The shift from inflammatory to an anti-inflammatory profile is happening everywhere," said O'Connor.
The changing landscape is likely to result in increased conversion of some proinflammatory cells to anti-inflammatory cells, coupled with the actual production of more anti-inflammatory macrophages.
The scientists also saw a shift in other immune cell types, such as more regulatory T cells, which generally lower the cells' immune response and help keep the immune system from attacking our own tissues.
This anti-inflammatory shift was maintained for at least four hours in humans and three days in rats.
