Police say the alleged Mastermind is a refugee in the shooting of David "Big Papi" Ortiz and confirms that the Boston Red Sox Legend was not the intended target. The fugitive suspect is Victor Hugo Gomez. The prosecution warns of long-term offenses and may have ties to a drug cartel.

According to the Dominican authorities, the intended target of the shooting was a friend of Ortiz, who was with him that night and was sitting only a few yards away. They believe that the alleged mastermind had ordered the attack from the United States and that the shooter held Ortiz for the man he was to kill.

The prosecution believes Gomez has planned everything and intends to kill his own cousin Sixto David Fernandez, who the police claim has worn clothing similar to Ortiz's on the night of the shooting. Dominican officials believe that Gomez wanted to take revenge on Fernandez for raping him eight years ago for drug-related offenses.

On Wednesday, prosecutors warned that Gomez was a dangerous refugee. He is said to be a member of a large Mexican drug cartel and is sought by the DEA. Gomez has been on the run in the United States since March following a major drug known as the Operation Wrecking Ball.

A new surveillance video shows another missing suspect and suspected middleman Alberto Rodriguez Mota at the bar in the hours before the attack. Authorities say he took a dark photo of the intended target and shared it with the other suspects. Minutes later, the video shows how he stands calm during the chaos. Last week, the alleged gunman Rolfi Ferreira Cruz told reporters in his prison cell that he did not want to shoot Ortiz and only get the color of the clothes he was looking for. CBS News turned to the DEA to comment on Gomez and his alleged ties to drug cartels, but we have not heard of it.

Eleven suspects are now in detention. The police are still looking for four more people, including the mastermind. David Ortiz is in good shape and is recovering in Boston.
