The Deadpool franchise is certainly no stranger to pushing boundaries and surprising fans, and it sounds like a facet of the title character
During Deadpool 2 's DVD Release Panel at the San Diego Comic-Con, Ryan Reynolds was asked by a bisexual fan if Wade Wilson's sexuality would be explored on-screen. As Reynolds has hinted at in the past, he is quite open to the possibility of this method and thinks it could work in the world of the future Deadpool films.
"I think that this universe represents and must be reflect the world in a very real way," explained Reynolds. "The great thing about Deadpool is that we're allowed to do things that other superhero films do not necessarily do ̵
Reynolds has addressed this issue a bit over the years and confirmed that his The Deadpool iteration falls somewhere in the LGBTQ spectrum.
"I think Deadpool is kind of fluid, you know?" Reynolds said earlier this year. "Deadpool is a guy who … There's a lot of room in there, he's in love with Vanessa, Vanessa is the love of his life and that's an important part of our story and it's the foundation of everything that happens with Deadpool you see that. " He shows these qualities in the course of every movie. He's a guy who's somehow unpredictable and, like I said, he's a bit fluid, I think. "
Of course, Deadpool 2 has already taken a positive step in the right direction with the lesbian couple Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand) and Yukio (Shiori Kutsuna), but Wade's sexuality in and of itself was less obvious, hinting only at a small series of winking references to the subject.
"We knew that was part of the comics" Deadpool scriptwriter Rhett Reese said in 2017. "That wanted we honor in the movie. But we have done it in a subtle way. "
" There are hidden clues in this movie. "Producer Simon Kinberg added," It's the DNA of the character.
It is unclear if and how Deadpool's sexuality could be In future films, there will certainly be fans who at least have some hope.
