Defense Minister Jim Mattis struck Russian President Vladimir Putin on Saturday, hinting that he was trying to intervene in the US 2018 midterm elections.
Mattis said at the Reagan National Defense Forum that US-Russia is "undoubted" Relations have deteriorated over the last two years.
"[Putin] has been trying to beat our elections in recent months, and we see further efforts in this direction," he added.
"Russia does not speak with one voice," Mattis continued. "We note that Russia on the surface tries to make very deceptive statements. They do not adhere, their actions speak more than words and it has made the relationship worse.
