Dell's new XPS 15 with a 4K OLED screen is now available

Dell's update of the XPS 15 2-in-1 laptop in 2019 is now available. One of the most notable changes in this year's model is the placement of the webcam: it has now been slid over the screen where it should have been, rather than near the hinge.

Pricing for the XPS 15 starts at $ 1,099 and all four Dell configurations include 9th generation Intel processors, fast M.2 SSD NVMe storage, and a 97 Wh battery. If you're more of a power user, the $ 1,549 model comes with a more powerful Intel Core i7 9750H CPU and a dedicated Nvidia GTX 1650 graphics card. These specifications are compatible with an entry-level gaming laptop.

One of Dell's high-end configurations has a 4K OLED screen (3840 x 21

60) and is one of the few Windows 10 laptops with one. If you want to see Netflix or just want to see deep black and other colors no matter what you do (it can display 100 percent of the entire DCI P3 gamut), this $ 1,949 laptop is a worthwhile investment. However, since the specifications are broadly in line with the above configuration of $ 1,549, it will not go that far if, for example, you want to play games with the native 4K resolution.

We recently tested the HP Specter X360 laptop, which can also be customized with a 4K OLED screen. It costs about the same price as the Dell option, although the XPS 15 may be a more attractive option if you want a 9th generation Intel processor, dedicated graphics, and a trackpad, thanks to Dell's Windows Precision drivers actually worth it.
