Denton County reports 17 new cases of coronavirus, including 5 at DSSLC – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth



Health officials in Denton County reported 17 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, including five more cases among residents of the Denton State Supported Living Center.

The 17 cases bring the nationwide total to 165, while the number of DSSLC residents who tested positive for coronavirus is 45, according to Denton County Public Health.

Last week, the county started to separate the number of cases in the DSSLC from those in the city of Denton.

In addition, the county said seven people who work at the Denton State Supported Living Center are among the 165 cases in the county and are reflected in the city in which they live.

Two DSSLC employees who live outside of Denton County and who tested positive for coronavirus are not included in the count of cases in the county, according to Denton County Public Health.

7 new cases reported on Sunday, six are in Denton and five are in the Denton State Supported Living Center. There are two each in Frisco and unincorporated parts of Denton County, and there are one each in The Colony and Lake Dallas.

The county reported its second coronavirus death on Saturday.
