The Detroit Pistons have a very hot start and take a 4-0 lead in a dominant season. If they win tonight, it's their first 5-0 start since the 2005-06 season, when they eventually rose to an early 8-0 record.
Blake Griffin's takeover last season made them a big man powerhouse, as Griffin and Drummond dominated the boards and were able to score substantial against almost everyone in the league. This season, nothing has changed: Andre Drummond has two 20-20 games; He scored 26 points and took 22 rebounds on Thursday against the Cavaliers.
With Griffin winning so late last season, he could not do so much and the Pistons failed to make it into the playoffs last season. Now the presence of Griffin and the dominance of Drummond begins to catch fire and they are one of the few teams that are unbeaten this season.
Tonight will be their starting lineup against Powerhouse Celtics:
Detroit Pistons projected launch against the Celtics
– PG – Reggie Jackson
– SG – Reggie Bullock
– SF – Stanley Johnson
– PF – Blake Griffin
– C – Andre Drummond
The Celtics lineup may be two of her big men in Aron Baynes and Daniel Theis, who are questionable with a thigh strain and foot sprain.
The Pistons certainly have their momentum, but Griffin is wary of being complacent:
Griffin comes from a 50-point, 14-rebound, 6-Assist win against the 76ers a few days ago where his accuracy and efficiency lagged behind the Philadelphia team with little resources to stop him. Griffin is an absolute machine with an average of 33.8 points per game this season, and the little ball Celtics may find it hard to stop him at the edge.
Detroit Pistons 2018-2019 Roster
– PG – Reggie Jackson, Ish Smith, Jose Calderon
– SG – Reggie Bullock, Langston Galloway, Bruce Brown
– SF – Stanley Johnson, Glenn Robinson III, Khyri Thomas
– – Blake Griffin, Henry Ellenson, Jon Leuer
– C – Andre Drummond, Zaza Pachulia
The sole roster for the Pistons tonight is the absence of Luke Kennard.
Kennard cuts through just 5.7 PPG this season, though his absence is likely to be a fly on t he returns from the explosive Pistons. If Blake Griffin and Andre Drummond continue to play in large numbers and their teammates can do their thing, the Pistons will likely continue their series and remain unbeaten before returning to the Celtics on Tuesday.
