Long before Prince Harry settled down with Meghan Markle, he was an active member of the London social scene. As a young boy, Harry was often photographed with friends and celebrated in various clubs. Even when his brother, Prince William, married a college friend, Harry still lived as a bachelor.
Of course, that was a while ago and Harry is a different person now. There is no doubt that the marriage has stirred up Harry's social environment a bit. But does that mean that Harry gave up on his platonic friends, with whom he held himself? Was it something that Meghan let him do? We know the following.
Who was Prince Harry's friend before he met Meghan Markle?
Prince Harry definitely had friends of different sexes. He was known as a very sociable and charming guy, and so he connected with many people he met. In particular, Harry had several friends, some of whom also allegedly had romantic relationships with him.
For example, he has known Natalie Pinkham, a presenter at Sky Sports, for more than 10 years. She was reportedly a "drinking companion" with whom he enjoyed spending time. Although there were rumors that they had joined, Pinkham always maintained that they were just platonic friends.
Another person Harry has been associated with is Astrid Harbord, a friend of Kate Middleton. In 2009, the two were caught together in a club before returning to Harry's apartment.
Harry was also close to some famous singers, such as Natalie Imbruglia, Ellie Goulding and Molly King.
Did Prince Harry end his friendship with many women after he got married?
Although reportedly close to many women, many of them were invited to the wedding of Harry and Meghan.
Pinkham, who had long been friends with Harry, received neither the wedding ceremony nor the reception invitation. "Natalie was a bit surprised not to be there," said an insider back then. "She and Harry are still talking, so it was a surprise for them not to be invited at all."
Harbord was not there, though he was close to other members of the royal family. Similarly, the famous female celebrity friends – Natalie Imbruglia, Ellie Goulding and Molly King – were not seen.
This made some viewers believe that Harry may have banished many female friends from his life.
Did Meghan Markle get Prince Harry to drop these girlfriends?
People also wondered if Harry is not talking to him about Meghan anymore. A source close to Pinkham revealed that her friendship with Harry was stale when he was with Meghan.
"They were super close, but it was purely platonic," said the Source of the Sun. "When Harry got together with Meghan, their relationship changed rapidly – it just went flat and cooled noticeably."
The source said, however, that Pinkham did not point his finger at Meghan so quickly, as this could be the case of tightening in the palace.
It's worth noting that there are reports that Harry's old friends, especially those he's been celebrating, are not big fans of Meghan. Her love of wellness, healthy eating, and yoga at dawn has brought her into conflict with friends who would prefer to see the prince party with them until the early hours of the morning. Meghan told him he should not, or because of his new, healthier lifestyle suits her.
