Most royal fans have heard the story of how Kate Middleton and Prince William met and fell in love at St. Andrews University. However, it is reported that the couple had another meeting before attending the same college.
Learn more about the claim that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge met earlier than we all thought.
Claims they made before attending the same school
Royal expert and author Katie Nicholl has claimed that the Prince and Middleton actually had another meeting before that, of whom we have all heard in St. Andrews.
Nicholl, who wrote the books William and Harry and Kate: The Future Queen told journalist Katie Couric that she even thought they had met at college, until Middleton's friends told her otherwise.
"That was really fascinating to me," Nicholl said. "I spoke with some of her friends at the Marlborough School, where she was before St. Andrews. They said, um, she did not meet him in St. Andrews. She met him before she got there.
Nicholl added when their first meeting was scheduled: "While she was in her sixth grade through some of her friends at school, they knew Prince William and Prince Harry. So there was an early meeting. That changed everything for me.
Their Reactions When They Saw in St. Andrews
Even if they met sometime before college, their next meeting is what they remembered most during their 2010 collaborative interview.
Willam spoke of meeting his future wife as they visited St. Andrews together.
According to royal biographer Christopher Anderson, Middleton did not know what to do when the meeting between the two happened. Her reaction was so surprising to William that he spilled a drink over himself.
Kate remembered how nervous she was at that moment.
"I actually blushed when I met you, and I've rushed out to be very shy of meeting you," she said in her joint interview, "there's from Fresher's Week, so It took a little time to get to know each other, but we became close friends very early on. "
The two went private for some time, and reports whirled around in 2002 that they would move out of their dormitories and rent an apartment with some college friends. By 2004, their relationship became public knowledge when they were photographed together on a ski trip. The couple got married in 2011 and today has three adorable kids: Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
