One of the Most Important Moments in Avengers: Infinity War was not a fight scene, but one in which Thanos made a difficult decision to obtain the soul stone. However, those who theorize about the upcoming Avengers: Endgame may have reworked this scene, which may not be exactly what it seems. Therefore, it is possible that Red Skull has tricked Thanos Infinity War and the possible consequences for Endgame .
What happened in the Infinity War ?
For those who may have forgotten – Mid Infinity War Thanos cheats the Guardians of the galaxy on Nowhere and takes Gamora with them. He reveals that he knows she is aware of the Soulstone's position he needs to complete the Infinity Gauntlet and Decimation.
After further manipulation, Thanos and Gamora arrive in Vormir, where they are greeted by Red Skull. He brings her to the edge of a cliff where he explains that Thanos must sacrifice the stone for what he loves most. This, as it turns out, is Gamora, and he apparently throws her to death from the cliff. Then he has the soul stone.
Who is Red Skull?
It's been a while, but enthusiastic MCU movie audiences have seen Red Skull before. In 1
At the end of the film, Red Skull is owned by the Tesseract (which we later discover is the Space Stone), but when he tries to hold it in the hand, a wormhole emerges in space, and he's sucked it into it. This is the last time he is seen in the MCU until Infinity War .
The red skull could deceive Thanos
. He tells them that the Soul Stone "wins a terrible price" to sustain it. When Thanos says he is ready, Red Skull answers, "We all think that first. We were all wrong. He further explains that he also tried to collect all the Infinity Stones, referring to his scene in The First Avenger of 19459003 (19459004). Then he was "banished" to Vormir, "leading others to a treasure [he] he can not possess." This is a suspicion – why was he banished? Why did nothing happen to Thanos when he started to collect the stones in 19459013? And who exactly banned him? The Tesseract itself?
If we put all this aside, even if he's telling the truth, we're still talking about the Red Skull that you can not trust. His whole story sounds like a long riddle he got when he came to escape. What if he could have given him the stone all the time? It seems that Red Skull is helping Thano in the face of his tendency to destroy. Why should he have him sacrificed to Gamora when it was not necessary?
There is a possibility here: He knows that helping terror give Thanos the Soulstone helps terror. Convincing him to kill Gamora could have been a strategic decision for a villain shown as a high-level military officer in 1945 The First Avenger . The whole galaxy knows who Thanos and his daughters are, so probably everyone knows that he prefers Gamora (he certainly says so in many scenes). The only thing that got in the way of his ultimate goal was his daughter to eliminate his only emotional weakness while removing a powerful fighter from the Avengers squad. But we have to wait until Endgame .
