Disney will offer a package of its three streaming services – Disney +, Hulu and ESPN + – for $ 12.99 per month from 12th November, the company announced today.
The company had previously suggested a bundle for all three services, but CEO Bob Iger officially made it during today's call of the company's investors. At $ 12.99, the bundle is cheaper or equivalent to other streaming services like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. It is also significantly cheaper than the HBO Max rumored streaming price of $ 16 to $ 17 a month. Hulu is currently available for $ 5.99 a month (with advertising) and ESPN + is $ 4.99 a month. ESPN + is the Disney-powered sports streaming platform that features hundreds of MLB, NHL and MLS games, Grand Slam tennis, world-class boxing, PGA Tour golf, college sports, international rugby, cricket and the entire library offered by ESPN films. 30 for 30, and more. "It is also now the streaming destination for UFC fights, of which Disney undoubtedly hopes they will be able to offset the shortage of SportsCenter and other banner shows by ESPN Network.
The biggest investor interest, however, was still Disney +. Iger talked a lot about Disney + during the investor call and described the service as "the most important product the company has brought to market during my tenure."
"The positive response to our direct-to-consumer strategy was gratifying. The integration of the companies we acquired from 21st Century Fox strengthens our confidence in our ability to leverage decades of iconic storytelling and powerful creative machines across the enterprise to deliver exceptional value to consumers, "Iger said in a press release.
According to Iger, the streaming services will probably be available through "Amazon, Apple and other distributors". Disney has not yet entered into any contracts with the companies listed above, but said to investors, "We believe it is important to scale quickly and we believe this will be an important part of it." They are all interested in the distribution of the product. "
Disney's goal is to provide a wealth of content in three distinct areas on the way to the consumer: general entertainment, family and sports. The bundle is a way for Disney to offer consumers a cost-effective option in addition to free online entertainment (YouTube, Twitch), many of which will be flooded with multiple streaming services over the coming months.
"This $ 12.99 package offers consumers tremendous volume, quality, and variety at a great price."
