Former Disney Channel Actor Alyson Stoner's essay explores her struggle for her sexuality.
In the play published in Teen Vogue, Alyson described that she was not only attracted to men. She became "mesmerized and intimidated" when she attended a dance workshop and met her teacher.
"After behaving off my knees, she approached me to correct my form," she wrote. "My heart was racing and my body was getting hot, was I nervous of failing an expert, was I breathing heavily because I was out of shape, her smile was the most electrifying thing I've ever seen?"
Alyson wrote her class and wrote to her mother and best friend, "I met a woman today, I'm not sure who she is or what I feel, but I think she'll be in my life for one very long time."
The actor said that when she met the dance teacher, she also struggled with her feelings that were not "quite sisterly or platonic."
"I realized that this was the way I'd never fantasized about a guy, and I did not really feel comfortable meeting people, and when I thought about it, I stared more at women, but that was not all social conditioning or the unattainable? beauty standards that promote comparison and objectification? I have refused to entertain other options. "
Alyson said the relationship is progressing, causing the two to spend more time together.
"She and I went on and started sending good morning lyrics, then we made dinner and watched, Orange is the New Black." Then we ventilate and support each other. Then we cuddled. Then we kissed and kissed something else. OK, we were in a relationship. I fell in love with a woman, "she added.
However, the actor tried to deny her feelings for the woman before saying that she had spent years visiting therapy to find out where her magnetism came from.
She fought accepting her sexuality and acknowledging that she "internalized" some of the harmful beliefs and misunderstandings about LGBTQ people and entities. "
However, Alyson now accepts who she is and whom she loves.
"I, Alyson, are attracted to men, women and people who identify themselves in other ways I can love people of all gender identity and prominence" It is the soul that captivates me. It's the love we can build and the kindness that we can contribute to the world by supporting each other's best travels. "(1
