Doctors urge the FDA to add breast cancer warnings to cheese

In the light of the Breast Cancer Awareness Month, members of the Food and Drug Administration's Responsible Medicine Committee are applying for a warning label on cheese. The requested label would read: "Dairy cheese contains reproductive hormones that can increase the risk of breast cancer mortality."

The nonprofit association submitted the application on October 3, 2019, all milk cheese products. The group has spoken out in favor of preventive medicine.

Dairy products are associated with breast cancer. Estrogen in cows' milk products increases mortality from breast cancer. Because dairy products are concentrated milk, hormones also become more concentrated.

Several studies have shown the association between breast and breast cancer. A 201

3 study found that consuming one or more servings of high-fat dairy in women who had previously been diagnosed with breast cancer resulted in a 49% higher mortality. A recent study from 2017 showed similar relationships between a higher breast milk rate and a higher breast cancer rate.

Breast cancer is one of the most well-known diseases in the USA. Especially during the month of breast cancer, many companies promote their donations for cancer-related causes or apply pink ribbons to products to demonstrate support for the cancer. The Center for Disease Control estimates that in 2016, 41,487 women in the US died of breast cancer.

Pink ribbons on products are a reason for this petition. According to Neal Barnard, President of the Medical Committee, "Manufacturers of cheeses such as Kraft, who clap a pink ribbon on products such as Philadelphia Cream Cheese and Macaroni & Cheese, as they did in previous months of Breast Cancer Awareness, should affix warning labels. We want women to realize that dairy cheese carries the risk of dying from breast cancer. "Dr. Barnard is the author of the book The Cheese Trap .

Dairy products have been linked to other health problems, including acne. Jon Stewart and his wife recently sponsored a vegan diet to help women avoid breast cancer.
