The Dodgers lost 2 out of 3 points in Atlanta last weekend. Overall, many worried Dodger fans in the Dodger ether. Not this one. I would have liked to see them win these games. It was certainly frustrating to see that the Dodgers had failed with RISP, but unfortunately. I also saw a profound difference between this series and what a playoff series would look like. A handful of other Dodger fans also noticed it.
The #Dodgers created the series as if they were looking ahead.
The Braves made the series the way they needed to win it.
That's what a team needs to get 2 out of 3 from LA.

The Braves threw the sink into LA
In these three series we saw what the Braves had to offer. They have their rookie phenomenon Mike Soroka launched. They used Sean Newcomb for historical reasons as a relief against the Dodgers. Shane Greene also excluded the Dodgers. For the Dodgers Kenta Maeda and Tony Gonsolin started the games 1 and 3 of the series. In a NLDS / NLCS we barely see, or not at all, that Maeda or Gonsolin start a game, at least to get started. Dustin May got out of the bullpen for the first time in his life, so he fought. Names like Yimi Garcia and Kristopher Negron are unlikely to be seen in a playoff scenario. The Dodgers used some unconventional names and unconventional strategies as test balloons in a series in which the Braves (who played at home) did their best every three days. The other interesting part of the series is that the part of the Dodgers, who was usually considered to be their weakest member, performed quite well.
"Pen Is Mightier"
Apart from the massive bomb Dustin May gave up, the Bullpen performed well during the 3 game series.
Outside of May's spectacular slam, the cop did not give up a run all the way against Atlanta. Braves are the second best team in the Netherlands and the Bullpen has completely shut them down.

Only Dustin May's homerun stays away. Otherwise, the Bullpen did not allow the mighty Atlanta Braves a single run. That's obviously surprising, but encouraging. Kenley Jansen had a clean inning, Joe Kelly worked out of trouble. Adam Kolarek was effective, as was Pedro Baez. Julio Urias (who we'll probably still see out of the bullpen in the playoffs) was also efficient.
A Few Things to Clarify
Granted, there were some concerns. On Saturday, the Dodgers made only 2 runs as they went with RISP 1 for 7, leaving 10 runners on base. Not ideal. Hyun-Jin Ryu also had the rare hard trip, but I do not think that will happen again. It is (hopefully) more likely that the lineups are a little more cohesive, resulting in fewer innings ending with many men on the base.
This Braves team is better than the Braves team the Dodgers saw in 2018 That means this Dodgers team is much better than the Dodgers team that defeated the Braves in the 2018 NLDS , I got away with a better sense of the two teams. The pitching staff of the Dodgers is better than the Braves. The offense of the Braves is certainly huge, but also the offense of the Dodgers is statistically better than that of the Braves. Meet the Braves and Dodgers in the playoffs 2019, activate the function!
