IDAHO FALLS – As sales of Dollar Tree merchandise continue to increase, the company is introducing an expanded business concept at limited locations across the country.
Dollar Tree Plus, a multi-priced product extension, began launching in more than 100 different locations last month.
"These products are designed to give our customers more choices, more sizes and more savings," said Gary Philbin, President and CEO of the company, in a press release. "This thoughtful test is designed to examine how Dollar Tree's loyal customers are responding to adding more than $ 1 worth of goods."
The company made extensive plans in the first quarter of 2019, including the selection of stores and merchandising. Whether this concept should be tested in a store in East Idaho has not yet been determined. However, as the company is testing the idea of raising the price of $ 1, it does not increase retail sales relative to its current range.
"We look forward to measuring and evaluating initial results and understanding whether the introduction of multiple price points in a larger number of businesses is in the best interests of our customers, the company, and our shareholders," says Philbin.
