King told the newspaper that he had complained to Trump about media coverage of Daniel's claims that she had an affair with Trump in 2006, which had been at the center of political coverage in recent weeks.

"The top story, number one, is Stormy Daniels," King told The Post. "I said [Trump] it's absolutely ridiculous I just got back from Hamburg and they just laughed at us."

The controversial person who was not allowed to speak at the 2016 Republican National Convention in Ohio because of his criminal past, adding that the President nodded in agreement, King said the story is "meaningless."

King was convicted of second-degree murder in 1967, later reduced to charges of manslaughter before finally being pardoned.

His dinner with Trump came less than a week after Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, appeared in a "60 Minutes" interview despite a secrecy agreement, revealing details about the alleged affair.

Trump has yet to speak publicly about Daniel's allegations, but did so through his lawyer and several White House spokesmen

"If he denies that it happened, it is," King told the Post.

"Who cares what he does to a lady?" He added.

Daniels fought a confidentiality agreement that she signed with Trump's personal lawyer Michael Cohen, claiming it was invalid because Trump did not sign the document.

The story of the alleged affair became known in January after The Wall The Street Journal reported that Cohen sent Daniels a $ 130,000 payment to keep her quiet about the alleged relationship in the weeks leading up to the 2016 election.
