On March 3, 2020, the first installment of Final Fantasy VII Remake will be released. It will cover Midgar, or in other words, about 20 percent of Final Fantasy VII . Why so little? Well, because each part is more or less comparable in content to a Standalone Final Fantasy . Now I know what you think: how is this possible? According to Square Enix, it is not only a careful modernization of the RPG classic, but also a further development of the game, which it wanted in the 90s, but failed due to technical limitations.
"Remaking Final Fantasy VI I have been able to immerse ourselves in the world and its characters much deeper than ever," said producer Yoshinori Kitase about the game. "Game design has also been optimized for this title, and we expect two Blu-ray discs with gameplay content."
As you can see, there is so much content that Square Enix has to deliver the game to two discs. The first game in this project "extends the history of Midgar" so much and is "so lavishly retold" that it has turned into a "solid stand-alone game".
"FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE goes deeper into the world and the characters of FINAL FANTASY VII than ever before."
"It's a huge amount of work and data to re-imagine this world Project will have a volume of content that is comparable to a standalone FINAL FANTASY. "[2/5]

" Count on the work already done in the first game we have a more efficient development of the second game We have our own internal timetable and plan, but right now we want to focus on our information The first game of the project will take place in the eclectic city of Midgar. "[4/5]

Currently, it is unclear how many parts of this project will be subdivided into, but Square Enix claims that future parts will be faster to develop because the first part provides the foundation, which is the most time-consuming part to create. If the first part is only about 20 percent of the original, it can be divided into four or five parts, although I assume that probably three parts will be released.
Final Fantasy VII Remake will be available on PS4 at launch. There were no further announcements at the time of publication.
