Eagles Vs. Lions Game Preview: Five questions and answers with the opponent

The Philadelphia Eagles (1-1) and Detroit Lions (1-0-1) play at Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday afternoon. To get a preview of this third week game, I turned to our friends at Pride Of Detroit . Magnanimous Mike Payton ( @POD_Payton ) kindly took the time to answer my questions about the upcoming matchup. Let's take a look at his answers! (Do not forget to read my POD question-and-answer page.)

1 – So, what about this team? They had a big lead over the cards and blew it up. Then they just hit the Chargers . Are the Lions really good?

That's what we're trying to find out. So far, the Lions defense has played 7 1

/2 really good quarters of football. They put pressure on opposing quarterbacks and cause sales. Most of all, they keep points off the board. What happened in Arizona feels like coincidence at this point. The Lions' coaching team almost cost them the game after taking a break in the middle of a game in which they suffered a first defeat. This game would have ended the game. A moment later, the Cardinals blocked a barge and sided with the field. A move that allowed them to tie the game. I can not blame the defense too much.

Offensively there are moments when this team has the impression that it is unstoppable. Then there are moments when you want to jump off a bridge. I do not know if they are still trying to figure out the new crime or if they are bad. Anyway, Matthew Stafford was in the first two weeks. He has completed 65% of his passes and looks like this mix of the old air Stafford and the newer that protects the ball Stafford .

At this point, Lions fans just hope that it continues.

2 – I saw an article about Pride of Detroit entitled: " Matt Patricia is bad at his work ." Do you agree? Why or why not?

It's really hard to say right now. There are so many things that Patricia has done since she came to Detroit that he is actually bad at his work. Including this break in Arizona, which I mentioned earlier. Obviously, he also has time management issues. But to be fair, this is probably the most popular fan complaint for any coach in the league. I'm sure there are Eagles fans who see Pederson like this.

When things get tough, you talk to players. Every player I've talked to about Patrica has nothing but bright things to say about the guy. Defensive Lineman Mike Daniels even said he was a genius. While this does not mean that he is a good coach, it is proof that the team has been bought. We'll see if things stay that way.

3 – What is the greatest strength of Lions? Where do you have the biggest advantage in this game?

It has to be the passing game. Right now, the Lions are sixth in the league when overtaking per game. Darrell Bevell has Matthew Stafford throw the ball everywhere. In the first two games he has sent 49 passes to 10 different recipients. I still do not understand why so many thought that this crime would be done first.

This gives Lions the distinct advantage that only one team has approved more yards than the Philadelphia Eagles. There is only one team that allows more touchdowns than the Eagles. The Eagles are also struggling to reach the quarterback. You are in sacks right now.

I know, only two weeks have passed. On this basis, however, the Lions have the edge.

4 – What's the biggest weakness of Lions? What are you most concerned about the Eagles?

The Lions linebacking corps is scary in the sense that I have nightmares. This is where the Eagles can definitely hurt the Lions. If I were Carson Wentz I would just throw it all day over the middle. The Eagles have the players to make it possible. I would think hard to play Zach Ertz in your fantasy leagues if you get him. He could have a big day. Darren Sproles and Jordan Howard could also have a good day. The Eagles do not have to go deep to defeat the Lions. You can only swim and dive all day.

5 – Who wins this game and why? Result prediction? And what do you expect for the rest of this Lions season?

I'm not trying to be a homer, as I swear. But I go with the Lions who win this game. I think that between the questions about the Eagles' great injuries and the defense of the Eagles, who are struggling to stop the pass, it is enough for the Lions to come to Philly and win. It certainly will not be easy. The Eagles will keep it close.

For the rest of the season, I'm still in the same group as the other beatwriters in Detroit. This is a 10-6 team that is most likely heading for a wildcard spot. Dear God, I hope we are fine.
