According to witnesses and the police, just after 6:30 pm local time, a car that was plowed into people on a busy sidewalk apparently did not slow down or avoid pedestrians in the city about 40 miles from San Francisco.
"We have preliminary evidence from witnesses that he has sped up, not & # 39; It looks like he's about to slow down, "said Sunnyvale Security Division head Jim Choi across from the NBC Bay Area.
The suspect, a grown man, eventually crashed into a tree and the police arrested him Tatort and did not immediately release his name.
"I saw two men lying flat on their backs, in the street, surrounded by paramedics," a witness from the NBC Bay Area said.
All eight victims , including a 13-year-old child, were taken to a hospital, some of which were in serious condition.
Choi said the incident seemed isolated, and the police did not look for any suspects.
