Elon Musk teases "Teslaquila" update, while the fate of the brand is uncertain

Tesla boss Elon Musk has again angered the arrival of its own brand of agave liqueur Teslaquila the pure electric car manufacturer. A late Friday evening Twitter commentary and response session by the business mogul led to a brand liquor status update request, to which Musk responded, "Coming soon!"

The genesis of Teslaquila refers to an April Fool's joke last year, in which a photo of musk, who slept against a Model 3, in his Twitter account was posted. Apparently, he was hungover after he had declared Tesla's filing of "all chapters" bankrupt, including the fictional "Chapter 1

4 and a half (the worst)". A proposed bottle of Teslaquila was later released on his (now deleted) Instagram account, showing that the CEO was serious about producing the alcohol, especially in 750 ml containers with a 40% alcohol content.

A US trademark application for Teslaquila was filed in October. However, in January of this year, the mark was rejected by the Trademark Office, naming another liquor brand that was considered confusingly similar to Teslaquila: Spirit Tesla. The brand Spirit Tesla belongs to the Serbian brewery Valjevsko, and the alcoholic beverages sold under the brand include a picture of Nikola Tesla.

The similarities between the two names – Teslaquila vs. Spirit Tesla – may not seem like it at first This is important given the ubiquitous nature of the Tesla car brand and the well-known witty antics of the CEO. The US Patent and Trademark Office, however, has the task of protecting consumers from confusion. For example, two liquor brands with names inspired by the famous inventor could potentially (possibly, possibly) convince a buyer to believe that the same company sold both products. Tesla's trademark attorneys will most likely file a response against the refusal and have time to take action by the end of July.

At the time of the first Teslaquila tweet on April 1, Tesla had just released its production for Q1 2018. The delivery report reported a 40% increase in production compared to the fourth quarter of 2017. This included a fourfold increase in the production rate of the Model 3, the led to a milestone of 2,020 Type 3 models within 7 days. Tesla's shares recovered in response, and Musk's humor seemed to be a nod to the company's connoisseurs.

Teslaquila's debut anniversary is only days away, so Musk may have planned something for his "bad news" as a favorite drink. Therefore, the "soon to come" tease. Celebrating Tesla's earlier than expected release of the $ 3,000 Model 3 Standard Range and the Model Y model would certainly be a call for celebratory footage of the branded liqueur. Until then, fans of Musk and its companies are waiting.
