Captain America (Chris Evans) was one of the main characters in the first three phases of the Marvel Cinematic Universe before he said goodbye Avengers: Endgame. The character appeared in three solo films for the studio as well as in all of Marvel’s major crossover projects, including Avenger: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. Although Evans officially said goodbye to the MCU, Endgame Directors Joe and Anthony Russo recently talked about Cap’s most famous line from the Infinity War Saga.
The Russo brothers set about making another Captain America film
After successfully defeating and returning everyone who died in the first moment, Cap Thanos (Josh Brolin) traveled back in time to place the Infinity Stones in their respective locations. But instead of going back to the current timeline, he stayed in the past to spend his days with the love of his life.
Avengers: Endgame didn’t show Cap’s last mission. Instead, the character reappeared as an old man and handed over his iconic shield to Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie), also known as Falcon. The end was perfect for Cap, but fans wondered what had happened when he put the stones back in position.
Although the Russians didn’t reveal what had happened to Cap, the directors teased that the plot could be shown in a future Marvel movie. According to the Comic Book Movie, they also admitted that they would like to be the ones to tell the story.

There are other characters that could have been chosen to say the iconic line, but for the Russo brothers, there was never any doubt that it would be Cap’s moment.
“We really didn’t do that. We always felt it had to be Cap’s moment and I’m not sure why, but for us we always thought it would be Cap’s moment, ”said Joe.
