Epic Games removes Fortnite's new pet and refunds the money to the players

Fortnite added a new pet to the Item Shop this week. This pet looked very similar to another good boy who was already in the game. The "Gunner" pet, added to the Item Shop on August 13th, was very similar to another "Bonesy" pet that allowed players to fight with a full backpack. Bonesy has been around for several seasons and the similarities between the two pets have been disappointed by players who said they had no plans to buy a pet with new skin. Epic Games responded that the pet should not have been released and that it would be removed from the store with refunds for those who bought it.

To see for yourself how similar the two pets are, a Reddit user named PhantomRacer32 submitted a side-by-side comparison to show the two dogs. Bonesy is on the left, Gunner on the right. The two dogs look almost identical, except for a yellow mask on Gunner and an emblem on the headscarf.

After acknowledging the complaints made by the players, Epic Games acknowledged that Gunner should not have been released. To fix the problem, the pet is removed from the players' collections and anyone who buys it gets back its 1,000 V-Bucks along with an additional 200 V-Bucks. Those who choose to refund it prior to their forced removal will receive 200 V-Bucks and receive another Refund tokens that can be used for recently purchased items.

Fortnites Gunner is the last part of the game that players were not happy with, but he's not the only one. The recent discussions revolved around the 'Mechs of the Game, a topic that is still under discussion, although the latest patch is the B.R.U.T.E. mechs.
