Eric Decker Announces NFL Retirement

The development of Eric Decker is over.

Before the Patriots' last preparatory game against the New York Giants, the broad receiver announced that he would retire via Instagram:

The 31-year-old split his eight seas between the Broncos, Jets, and Titans. 19659002] He signed shortly before the training camp at the Patriots.

In 2012 and 2013, he each raised 1,000 yard seasons for the Broncos and returned to the 1000-yard mark of 2015 as a member of the Jets.

The Patriots will release veteran security Eddie Pleasant, ESPN Field Yates reports.

Pleasantly, 29, signed with the Patriots just before the start of the camp. He played six seasons with the Texans after signing with Houston as an undrafted rookie in 2012. He was one of Phil Perry's longshots to make the team earlier in the camp.

Third year safety Jordan Richards seems to be competing for a backup spot. Devin McCourty, Patrick Chung, Duron Harmon and special team-mate Nate Ebner are banging on other collateral. Jason McCourty, who was safe against the Panthers for the first time in the preseason on Friday night, could also be there.
