Facebook launches Tuned, a scrapbook messaging app for couples only (with iPhones)

From time to time, Facebook spits out an idea for an app via its NPE or the New Product Experimentation team. The team was previously responsible for a meme creation app called Whale and a Pinterest-like app Hobbi. Now the latest project from the NPE team is a messaging app that is only for you and your partner.

Not only can you use the app to send direct messages, you can also create a scrapbook-like feed that allows you to easily review reminders with your partner. In addition to the basics of sending photos, you can send voice memos, cards, notes, and custom stickers. You can also connect your Spotify account to share playlists and set your mood like the old messaging apps. This is how Facebook describes it:

A private room where you and your partner can only be yourself. With Tuned, you can be as mushy, quirky, and silly as you are personally together, even when you̵

7;re separated. Express your love creatively, share your mood, exchange music and create a digital scrapbook of your special moments. Tuned is created by the Facebook NPE team.

While the app may not do much for couples currently quarantined, it could help those who have been separated from the current global pandemic feel a little closer. Tuned is more expressive than the typical chat app. Whether people could bother installing another messaging app is another story.

In addition, it is currently only available for iOS. I mean, no one would go out cool with someone who uses * gasp * Android.
