"Dark Modes" are omnipresent in 2019. Apparently, every app and every operating system currently implementing the energy-saving function under the sun.
Although the popular messenger app gets an update for the dark mode, Facebook itself seems to be against the trend. The world's largest social network is currently testing a completely white version of its Android app.
First by XDA Developers, the redesigned UI drops the iconic (if somewhat outdated) blue accents that were equated with Facebook from the beginning, replacing them with a much simpler, completely white color scheme.
All-White, All-White, All-White
Due to the above images, it is clear that the social media giant is trying the various Give apps a unique look and bring Facebook into line with its messenger app, which has been completely white for some time now.
Alternatively, it could also prove to be Facebook's first step towards implementing a true dark mode, as the company's signature blue would likely come across a black background.
Currently, the whitewashed Facebook app is only available through a server-side switch, with no word about when it's available to the general public. There is also no word on whether the iOS app receives a similar facelift.
