Family of three children met and killed in Fulton Co talks about accidents

FULTON COUNTY, Ind. (WNDU) – Three siblings were shot dead on Tuesday morning in Fulton County by a pickup truck while boarding a school bus.

Alivia Steel, Mason & Xzavier Ingle and Alyssa Shepherd

The driver of the truck, Alyssa Shepherd, 24, from rural Rochester, was arrested on Tuesday afternoon. She was accused of ruthlessly killing thirteen and having once passed a school bus with the safety arm extended, causing injuries.

Shepherd came out of Fulton County Prison on Tuesday night.

The crash occurred around 7:1

5 am in the 4660 block of Indiana 25.

The three deceased children are from the same family. They were identified as six-year-old twin boys Xzavier Ingle and Mason Ingle and their nine-year-old sister Alivia Steel.

"He has lost no child, he has lost all his children." said her uncle Elgin Ingle. "What do you tell your little brother, how do you explain to your little brother that it's getting better? You can not."

A fourth child was injured and taken to a Fort Wayne hospital. He was identified as an eleven-year Maverik Lowe. He suffered several broken bones and injuries. The police say he was conscious in the hospital and had nothing to do with the other affected children.

"This school was warned, this was a problem, as we have already said," said Ingle. "They complained, other parents, it's not safe to run a kid on a highway, especially at this time, because everyone's working at this time."

Police have confirmed that the children are getting on the bus, and Stopparm was out at the time. A 2017 Toyota Tacoma directed the opposite direction that hit the kids.

At least three children were on the bus at that time.

Police say the crash that killed 3 people is the worst accident for some time.

The area where the crash occurred is the Tippecanoe Valley School Corporation. Police confirm that the deceased siblings have visited Mentone Elementary School in nearby Kosciusko district.

The Tippecanoe Valley School Corporation issued the following explanation after the crash:

Our school society suffered a tragedy this morning. We learned of three student deaths and a student who was badly injured and taken to a hospital in Fort Wayne when they were hit by a vehicle when getting on their bus.

We have used all school counselors to meet the emotional needs of our staff, students and parents.

We are waiting to hear more confirmed details but would like to ask the church to pray together for the families, our students and our staff.

Indiana Governor Eric J. Holcomb published the following statement on Tuesday afternoon:

Words can not express the depth of sadness that Janet and I feel, compared to what family does , Friends, teachers, classmates and community just feeling pale. Today, and many more, we mourn their loss. I ask Hoosiers throughout the state to send us, with your deepest prayers, the strength needed to endure such a time.

A neighbor who does not want to be identified reports the bus on Tuesday morning. After her dogs started behaving strangely, she went outside to see what had happened.

"I went to one of the tenants in the caravan park and I asked," What happened? "I switched off my phone immediately because I did not … I did not want to record that on video Three – I will not say her name – three of her kids were killed instantly", said the neighbor

The neighbor believes that speeding is an important topic on their Indiana 25 range. She said her son had been hit in the past when she turned into the driveway.

To slow it down because it's crazy, "she said," It's crazy that three kids had to die. It should not have happened. "
