Aside from a trailer debut in 2019 at The Game Awards, the game has been almost devoid of enthusiasm. No review copies were sent to the press, and there didn’t seem to be a marketing campaign for them – a bizarre situation for a licensed game tied to one of the most successful film franchises of all time. It shows, among others, the similarity and talent of the stars Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Sonequa Martin-Green, Peter Stormare and Asia Kate Dillon.

I understand this impulse, especially after playing the game myself. Fast and furious intersection is not a total wreck, but its many basic problems destroy any chance to have fun.
A criminal underground of highway thieves
crossing introduces a new crew of road racers and outlaws led by Vienna Cole (Martin-Green). They operate in the world of the Fast and Furious films, and when they are above their heads they reach out to someone who may be able to help: Letty (Rodriguez), who includes the rest of the “family”.
The story is about a secret, historical underground criminal organization of freeway thieves who clash with the game’s heroes and increase the stakes until cars fly through the air, wrecking balls are involved and vehicles become mobile hacking platforms. It’s about what you would expect from a quick and furious story: minimal logic but lots of chaos. The speakers all sound like they’re actually trying, which is a positive sign for this type of licensed game, but the rest of it crossing I can’t keep up with the cast’s efforts to make something of this mess.
You control different characters in each mission and sometimes jump back and forth between them several times in a mission, although the game will tell you when to do so. All the big stars are there, but it’s the newer cast members who do most of the heavy lifting. I don’t even want to guess if this is all considered canon or what it would even mean for this particular franchise.
crossing is not a racing game as so few missions involve racing. It is not an open world game as there is no open world and almost no freedom in how to approach each mission or how to get to the next section. It goes like this: you learn about the history, drive into the next area, maybe fight other cars on the way, maybe do stunts, maybe run, just drive. And then there’s a cutscene and after that you go somewhere else.
There is no overworld map and no way to explore these environments on your own. Instead, the campaign includes parts of the driving that are separated by cutscenes of characters talking to each other before getting back on the road and heading to your next destination. Sometimes this ride is a race; In other cases, you’ll have to fight rolling weapon platforms. and sometimes you’re just driving … to get somewhere.
Which is a problem because driving is cruel. Every time you go from point A to point B you are grouped on a single path, and that path is poorly communicated. That resulted in multiple crashes that made me think I could go anywhere just to hit an invisible wall. The game features takedown attacks that allow you to slam enemy cars into each other or on the curbs that seem straight out of the Burnout series, but without the attention to detail or sense of fun of that series.
There is a single camera angle and it doesn’t show what’s going on. You can play with a keyboard on the PC, but the game won’t tell you which keys do what and only prompts you for controller prompts. When and if you can successfully guess which buttons do what, be aware that this configuration will get you stuck as there is no way to remap the keyboard controls at all.
crossing explains so little. Although I admired the idea of a dangerous drive in which I carried a volatile form of fuel that could explode in an accident, it was arduous to actually do so. I could rush into so many things before the game finally told me enough was enough. What is the difference between the first head-on collision and the third? I dont know.
The game would never tell me when my cargo was about to explode, and even then I had no chance of seeing it. It’s quick and furious – why plant a vehicle bomb to blow it up off-screen if you fail the challenge? Isn’t the whole series about cars making silly jumps and drifting as things explode right and left?
Put all that frustrations and linear gameplay aside, and not even the basic drive controls hold up crossing. It’s like every aspect of driving, from accelerating to handling to using the handbrake and laughing gas, was done by a different team, each tossing a coin to see if it was realism or one Arcade approach acted more suited to the feeling of the series. The results make it nearly impossible to figure out how my car will react to each situation until it happens.
crossing also has a multiplayer option, at least that Sounds It’s fun, but there aren’t enough people playing this game. So it’s only feasible if you are looking for a simulator waiting for a game.
All of this, and publisher Bandai Namco is still charging $ 59.99 for the game to launch. He’s also offering a season pass for $ 29.99 that gives you “three add-on packages with new cars, customization items, and more.”
Mediocre games take place, often despite everyone’s best efforts, but it is this seeming attempt to start the game under the radar that has a lot of notoriety, but nothing other than what is moving Fast and furious intersection From the “These things happen” pile to the “transparent deposit bucket”.
