The father of a 6-year-old girl was arrested after police were shot dead by her younger brother on Saturday night.
Investigators believe that the 2-year-old boy is holding his father's gun and has shot a girl in her hand in her home in northwest Atlanta, police spokesman Jarius Daugherty said.
The father, 45-year-old Antonio Stephens, is charged with reckless behavior and is a convicted offender who is in possession of a gun
The girl was in stable condition in Egleston's Children's Healthcare Brought to Atlanta.
She was shot dead around 9pm Saturday in a house on Block 1900 in the North Ave., police said.
Investigators received search warrants and found a 9mm handgun that Stephens owned, according to officials.
The girl's parents were shooting at the scene, but "local investigators initially received mixed stories about how the child was shot," police said.
