ROSEMONT, Illinois – Bellator President Scott Coker is the first to experience a martial arts promoter after all these years.
Although he issues the contracts and signs the checks and runs one of the most prominent MMA fighting promotions, Coker sometimes experienced the sport as a true fan.
Take for example the impact of the Saturday Bellator 198 event. After the Paramount event at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois, famous MMA legend Fedor Emelianenko presented a present to his current (and former) promoter.

"You can not have that," joked Coker with reporters. "These are his (hand) wraps, the gloves and the shorts he was fighting in – all his outfit today."
"Wow, this is the first time in 33 years that a fighter gave me his gear. That is amazing.

Emelianenko signed with Bellator in 2017, and on Saturday he fought for the second time under the banner of the company.But former PRIDE champion and heavyweight Great also had a run in the Coker-led Strikeforce promotion from 2009 to 2011.
