DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – Sources report CBS 11 News The driver of a Ferrari who was seriously injured in a rollover in Dallas is the local boxing experience Errol Spence Jr.
The crash occurred shortly after 3 I'm on the Riverfront Boulevard near I-30 near downtown and got involved in a vehicle.
According to police, the vehicle drove in the 500 block on the lanes northbound at high speed from S. Riverfront Boulevard. The vehicle passed the middle average and tipped several times causing the driver to be ejected. Police say he did not wear a seatbelt.
Police say the driver was taken to hospital in serious condition and is expected to survive. His identity was not officially released, but sources near Spence confirmed that he was involved in the crash.
Police continue to investigate what exactly caused the crash.
Spence, a world welterweight champion from DeSoto, is currently 26-0 in his professional career and his last match was against Shawn Porter on September 28.
The local boxer made his professional debut in November 2012. He won the IBF welterweight title in May 2017 and has been defending him ever since.
Spence defended his welterweight title on June 16, 2018 at The Star in Frisco in front of local spectators twice against Carlos Ocampo and at the AT & T Stadium at Arlington on March 16, 2019 against Mikey Garcia.
